Rollers

Perhaps the most versatile type of blind on the market.

Design

When it comes to design, the choice is almost endless. From bright colours to calmer tones, from plains to patterns, from high transparency to opaque, there’s something for everyone. Many BBSA members also offer rollers with woven patterns, screen fabrics or digitally printed images.

Operation

Usually made with an aluminium barrel around which the fabric is wound, rollers can be operated via:

  • Spring operation – some systems have spring decelerators, so the blind retracts in a slow and controlled way
  • Chain – fitted to the side of the blind with safety devices
  • Push/pull – where the blind uses clever spring technology to hold the blind in position so it can be simply moved to the desired position by pushing or pulling the bottom bar
  • Motor – mains voltage, low voltage and battery operated with automation via sensors and digital assistants.

Window blind safety

The BBSA recommends using blinds which do not contain operating cords or chains, or which have concealed tensioned cords. These products are ‘safe by design’ and are widely available.

Rollers will help you control the amount of light in your home and improve its energy saving qualities.
